I had never seen the movie Toy Story, yes, just the original one until New Year's Eve 2010. When the movie first came out about 15 yeas ago I remember not liking the animation. It was one of the first, maybe the first, Pixar movie and I just didn't like how it looked. Because I didn't care for the animation, I never saw the movie until 3 months ago when we gave it to Kimball for Christmas. It is such a cute movie and I really liked it. I also realized that a lot of lines from the movie were very familiar from people quoting it and I never knew what movie they were quoting.
A few weeks ago we rented Toy Story 2 and it was okay, but I'm not a huge Joan Cussack fan so Jessie wore me down after awhile. All in all it was a cute movie and the second time I watched it I liked it better.
As of last Friday, I have seen all 3 Toy Story movies within a 3 month period. The third movie was as cute as the first one and I really liked it. It was sad at the end though watching Andy give away all of this special toys. I have a special bear who went with me to college and I know right where he is sitting this minute. I'll probably always hang on to him just because he makes me happy.
I think the best part about all of the movies is the way Andy played with his toys because I think it was a realistic portrayal of how kids play...at least that is how Kimball plays. It is so fun to listen to Kimball play and talk with his toys, especially if he doesn't think we are listening.
I say: "Hurray for Toy Story 1, 2, and 3" If you haven't seen them I recommend them.

Family Fun Night
Last Friday we had a Family Fun Night. Kimball worked really hard to fill a pint sized jar with mini marshmallows when he did things that followed God's plan. He read scriptures, said prayers, when on visits, worked around the house, attended church, obeyed, etc. It took him about a month but he filled the entire jar. To celebrate the happiness we can feel when we follow God's plan we had a family fun night. We let Kimball pick our activities. He first wanted to go to the movies to see Rango. We told him he could but Rebecah was too young to go because she wouldn't sit through a movie. We told him that Joseph would take him if he still wanted to go but also suggested some activities we could do as a family.
Kimball ended up deciding on pizza, popcorn and Toy Story 3. We ordered a pizza and popped corn and watched the movie. We also set up the tent in the living room and Kimball watched the movie from the tent. He also got to sleep in the tent so it was a fun night for him. We promised him we could rent Rango when it comes out on DVD. It was our first time using Red Box and it was so easy! I can't believe we have never used it!

Bob
Joseph recently got an ipod touch. It is a neat little gadget and we like it. It is a big deal for us since it is our first "i" anything. Kimball loves the ipod and he calls it either an ipob or an ibob so we have called our ipod touch: Bob.

Our Little Walking Lass
Rebecah is finally walking. She took her first steps about two weeks ago and she has improved greatly since then. She frequently chooses to walk over crawling and almost always walks if we encourage her. It is fun to see her toddling around and she'll only get faster.
Here are two cute pictures of her. She isn't walking in either picture, but I thought she looked cute.

St. Patrick's Day
We love St. Patrick's Day in this house. I think we like it so much because Kimball's favorite color is green. We had fun celebrating the holiday. We all wore green and we had a festive dinner. We enjoyed chicken, even though it wasn't green. We also ate Irish soda bread, asparagus and pistachio salad. We had a green coconut cake for dessert.

Here is an amusung little Kimball story. Anytime I wear a green shirt Kimball asks if it is St. Patrick's Day. It can be May, August, December, but he will always comment on the green shirt. I tell him it isn't St. Patrick's Day and Kimball always responds: "Well, you can wear that shirt on St. Patrick's Day!"

Worried
A few days ago Kimball was playing with a pen and a small note pad while I made dinner. He starting making dots on the pad with the pen and the next thing I knew he was screaming. He had missed the pad and stabbed one of his fingers. Joseph helped Kimball get all bandaged up. Kimball continued to be a little somber even after we had eaten dinner so we finally asked him if something was wrong. He said he was worried that part of his finger was missing and wouldn't grow back. We tried to reassure him that nothing was missing. He, of course, didn't believe us until the next day when we took off the bandage and he saw for himself that his finger was fine.

Going to the Dentist
Kimball and I went to the dentist today. It was Kimball's first time and he did so well. We had been talking about the dentist for a few weeks and what Kimball could expect to happen so I think that helped. He was such a big boy sitting so still in the chair with his mouth open. The hygienist and the doctor both commented on how well Kimball did for being 3 1/2. Kimball enjoyed getting a little toy car out of the treasure chest.
Joseph finished with work just in time for my turn in the chair. It would have been rather difficult to hold Rebecah while having my teeth cleaned and x-rays would have been impossible. Rebecah cries when she is separated from me, thankfully, Joseph could wisk her out of the room. (She is fine once she can no longer see me.)
After our clean bill of health we went to DQ for some ice cream. It is tradition in the Johnson family to get ice cream after going to the dentist. DQ was out of quite a few toppings so we all ended up getting just vanilla ice cream cones. It was a treat for Kimball to have ice cream for lunch so he didn't care.

This picture is so cute but I don't know why it is the wrong orientation.

Random Happenings
We haven't had a blog post for a few weeks because we haven't had too many picture taking opportunities and I don't like posting without pictures. But here is a list of our goings on:
A few weeks ago Joseph was released as the Young Men President and is now serving as the Executive Secretary in our ward. It is nice to have Joseph home with the kids on Wednesday nights. It is also nice that Joseph can now take Rebecah for me the last hour of church when I am teaching Young Women.
We tried to go on a family hike a few weekends ago but we had a hard time finding the trail. Here is a picture of Kimball in a hollow tree we found.

Rebecah is still a huge Mama's girl and is pried away from me at times but she is also developing love for her Daddy too. She gets so excited when she hears the garage door opening because she knows he is home. She shrieks with excitement. She also loves it when he takes her outside. She has special jeans she wears outside so she can get dirty...holey jeans since she is still crawling around. Rebecah did take 4 steps on Saturday, but I think it scared her because she hasn't taken anymore steps on her own. She got her first bloody nose today when she had a run in with the toy box.
I spoke in the Spanich Sacrament Meeting, in Spanish, a few weeks ago. I was so nervous but Joseph said I did fine. I don't like speaking when I'm not exactly sure what I'm saying or how to phrase things differently. Joseph helped me translate my talk from English into Spanish.
