A True Coffey

It is rare in Joseph's family for a bunch of his family to be together taking pictures without at least one person sticking out their tongue for the picture. I have witnessed it with my own eyes. For those of you who were there...just think back to the pictures we took after Kimball's baby blessing. We laughed until we hurt!
Well, Rebecah is going to fit in well as a Coffey. She was smiling a few days ago and I decided to capture her smile on camera. I set it on the "rapid fire" setting in hopes of getting a good picture with her smile. This is what I ended up with:

As you can see, she likes her tongue, especially if it is sticking out of her mouth. She even sleeps with it sticking out sometimes. She is fun to watch.

Twenty-eight and three quarters

I love the movie "Hello, Dolly!" I love the songs, music, and seeing a young Michael Crawford before he became the Phantom of the Opera. I think it is funny how Cornelius Hackle says in the movie that he is twenty-eight and three quarters. I thought it would be fun to commemorate when Joseph and I turn/turned 28 3/4. I had my moment July 10, 2008 and I don't remember how we celebrated.

Well, today is Joseph's big 28 3/4 day so we celebrated with a nice dinner and cheesecake. I have been promising Joseph a cheesecake for a few months and I finally followed through with a frosted chocolate chip cheesecake.

TIMBERRRRRR!

Ever since we moved into our house our trees have been on Joseph’s mind. We wanted fewer trees so our grass would grow better. He started off making little steps on the tree trunks so he could climb the trees to trim off some branches. We then bought a ladder and he graduated to using his ladder to climb up the trees. That was followed by borrowing a tree trimmer pole from our Home Teacher. He has had the trimmer for over a month now and he uses it weekly. Our Home Teacher came over again last night and he and Joseph tackled two trees with a chain saw. They had the trees down and the job was done in 30 minutes with the branches cut into firewood for next year.

I’m not sure what Joseph will tackle next, but I have no doubt that there will be a project.

Back in the Saddle!

I am back on the bicycle! It has been 6 weeks since Rebecah was born and this week was the first full week that I have been able to exercise. It is good to be moving again. I have been able to cycle about 8 miles each day this week! I can even get on and off the bike carefully while holding Rebecah. I feel so liberated!

Today it was in the low 60s and it was warm enough to go out for a walk. We went about a mile and a half and it was a beautiful day. Kimball was chattering away and I could tell he had missed our walks. Rebecah didn’t mind the walk as long as we were moving.

Here is a picture of the two of them. I’m glad I could find a stroller that would work for both of them.

Rebecah's Baby Blessing

Joseph blessed Rebecah in church last Sunday and it was a really special occasion. Joseph’s parents, two brothers and their wives and youngest sister were able to come down and share the weekend with us.

We had a blast with Joseph’s family. There was a lot of laughing…the first night I went to bed so sore from laughing. Hard laughing is still one of those things that I can’t quite do yet without paying for it.

Uncle Jonathan again used his shirt making capabilities to make our kids new shirts. Kimball had been wearing his “Jonathan shirt” from our family reunion nightly to bed. The vinyl lettering is a nice touch to the two shirts. I think Kimball has worn his new shirt at least 3 times in the past week. Rebecah likes hers too.




It was fun having extra playmates around for Kimball. He loves having “big friends”. Kimball kept everyone laughing with his antics. Spencer and Jonathan had their fair share of antics as well. I think they got into the Hotwheels and track more than Kimball did. The two uncles tried to rival Kristi for top Kimball status, but they couldn’t quite manage. Kristi is great with Kimball. Kimball got CARS stickers from his Granny for Valentine’s Day, and Kristi taught Kimball the names for all of the characters. The stickers are still around; although, they are curled and less sticky. Kimball asks for them after naps so we can’t throw them away.


Rebecah enjoyed her extra attention too. She loves to be held and there was always someone willing to fill the job. Jonathan was the designated photographer for the weekend and Rebecah patiently slept through her photo shoot. Here are just a few pictures that Joseph and I grabbed with our camera.






The best part of the weekend was filling an entire church pew with family. It was really special to have Dad, Jonathan and Spencer join Joseph in the blessing circle. Rebecah’s blessing was very special.

We miss everyone and we were glad they could make the effort to come down for the weekend. Kimball has asked for them to come back all week.

One Month

Okay! It is hard to believe that Rebecah is 1 month old already. It has flown by! She is doing well and from what I can tell she is about 21 inches along and somewhere around 7 1/2 pounds. She cries more than Kimball did, but that is to be expected since Kimball didn't cry very much at all!

Here are a few pictures of Annette and Rebecah. A few people have asked for more pictures with me in them. I love the picture of Rebecah with her tongue out. She frequently sticks that little tongue out!

Snow!

We Don't get a lot of snow in Arkansas, but we were blessed with 4 inches of snow starting Friday afternoon. Joseph was able to take Kimball out for a few minutes Friday and Saturday. On Friday Kimball wasn't sure what to with the white stuff, but by Saturday he was tromping through it like a champ. Joseph and Kimball even made a small snowman and decorated it with Mr. Potato Head parts. Rebecah and I stayed inside where we were warm and safe from falls!
