Family Home Evening

Kimball LOVES Family Home Evening. We start each FHE with the "Family Night" song from the Children's Songbook. If we start humming it and it isn't time for FHE we are in big trouble because Kimball gets so disappointed.
Our lessons are all out of the Nursery Manual that is used at church. Kimball brought me his book Monday and told me that he was doing the lesson for Family Home Evening. I said okay and told him to give me the lesson right then so I could do the lesson that evening. He taught me about the Creation...naming all of the animals in the pictures, talking about the water, plants, trees, etc. I asked him who made all of those things and he answered Jesus. Then I asked why Jesus would do that and he had a big smile when he said: "He wants us to be happy!" It was really sweet.
That night we sing our song and I was going to do the lesson...Kimball runs to me and tells me that HE is giving the lesson. We let him and he does the exact same thing he had done earlier in the day. It was really neat to see my 2 1/2 year old son give our lesson. For our activity we pretended to be different animals and took turns guessing the animal. Kimball loved it.
We just hope he loves Family Home Evening for years and years to come. Wishful thinking? Maybe. But for now we'll take all of the excitement we can.

3 Months Old

Rebecah turned 3 months old today. She is wonderful! She still doesn't sleep much during the day, but she is learning to deal with her exhaustion better without crying as much. We are learning to deal with it better too! She sleeps great at night though and we can't complain about that. Kimball had a rough night over the weekend and Joseph and I are still recovering from it. I don't know what we would do if we were up so much on a regular basis, as it is we go to bed quite early.

Here are a few pictures.

Easter

We had a nice Easter. It was wonderful to talk with Kimball about the significance of Easter and our Savior's resurrection. We did the fun part of Easter as well. We had a small egg hunt for Kimball Saturday afternoon. It had rained the night before so most of the eggs were hidden inside with a few on our deck.

On Saturday, I dressed Rebecah like a little Easter Egg and then decided to wear a coordinating color so we could match.

Showing off the treats a friend of mine gave him.

I fixed what Joseph called the "perfect Easter menu": ham, stuffing, asparagus, and pineapple. For dessert I made an Oreo cake. We also ate orange rolls with dried cranberries in them for breakfast. THe cranberries were a nice touch.

Maybe in years to come we'll decorate/dye eggs or something.

General Conference

We really enjoyed General Conference this weekend, especially Kimball. He has really taken an interest in the General Authories and will frequently pour over the General Authority chart we have given him. He readily recognizes many of the men and women who lead our church. He got very excited when he saw people he recognized speaking or giving the prayers.

Alas, if only he would give as much concentration and excitement to potty training. : )
