It's Always Fun with Daddy!

Joseph really is a good dad...I know that's not a huge surprise. But he comes up with some really fun and crazy things that the kids just love. Here are a few pictures of their craziness.

I know it looks like Kimball is screaming from his torture, but he is really laughing.



Here the kids have their lovies, affectionately called their "guys", tied to them so they don't get lost. (We actually started calling all of Kimball's lovies his guys and then Cita picked up on it so she calls her lovies her guys too. It's cute to hear her say "guy" over and over until she gets her guys out of her crib.)


This last picture is fun with a pillowcase. Joseph took Kimball's pillowcase and made a hat for Rebecah and then he did the same for himself.


I don't know what we would do with Daddy. No wonder there are a lot of tears when Daddy has church meetings in the evenings.

Hot, Hot, Hot!

It has been quite warm ...like the rest of the country. Well, warm is an understatement. I know it is supposed to be hot when it is August, but when I see the temperature is 114 and I don't live in Arizona, something is wrong. Russellville has been really dry this summer as well and yesterday some hay fields near Russellville caught on fire. And to think less than 3 months ago we were wanting it to stop raining and warm up. Now we pray for rain and cooler temperatures.

Each week Kimball asks so go to the park and I just tell him it's too hot. What a mean mom, but I don't want any of us getting sick from the heat.

Events from the past week.

I haven't been great at taking pictures, but here are a few I have taken this week:

Cita getting ready for church. Kimball picked these glasses one week at the library for his prize. He was a little dismayed when he discovered they were too small.


For Family Home Evening this week, Joseph and Kimball built a temple out of dominoes. Temples are the theme for Primary this month.


Another summer reading prize from the library was an off brand of Play Doh. Here are Kimball and Cita sitting at the counter playing with it.

Rebecah is finally getting the upper hand! We had our futon mattress on the floor and Kimball wanted to be a burrito. While Kimball was the burrito filling, Rebecah climbed on top.

Well, Chandra doesn't...

My brother-in-law, McKay, has a girlfriend who I am told looks a lot like me even more so than my sisters. I had McKay send me a picture of Megan and I can see where people might think we look alike, but I still think I look more like my sisters. I was telling this all to Kimball and here was the last part of our conversation:
Me: Does that look like me? (meaning Megan's picture)
K: Maybe when you were younger.
Me: Really? I still think I look more like my sisters.
K: Well, Chandra doesn't.

I just laughed, but Kimball is right. I don't look like Chandra.

The second picture is from last Thanksgiving and Kristin is in that picture.

18 months

Rebecah hit the 18 month mark a little over a week ago. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone. She is strong willed and full of energy. I asked her if I could take a picture of her for this post and she promptly said "No!" Her vocabulary is increasing by leaps and bounds and she loves to feel big. She also has quite the set of lungs and can scream like you wouldn't believe, and even people at church comment on her screams.

Rebecah LOVES her daddy. She waves to Joseph every time he leaves the house. She has a photo album of her first year and she frequently looks through it for pictures of Joseph. She recently found our wedding album and spent a good portion of her day just looking through all of those pictures.

She and Kimball can really get each other going and sometimes have screaming matches just for fun to see who can scream louder! Rebecah has started to defend herself more and hit Kimball on the head twice this week with a truck.

On the 4th of July a neighbor cat came and hung out on our driveway for an hour or so. Rebecah just stood on a step ladder and excitedly watched the cat from the window. The cat finally went away but after that we had to take Rebecah to the window multiple times to show her that the cat was gone. We ended up having to do it daily for the next week and a half. I think it has only been within the last few days that she doesn't ask to see if the cat is "all gone". She does love cats and dogs...too bad for her, her mother doesn't and we won't ever have a pet.

She finally relented and let me snap a few pictures. One is her wild hair and one is slightly more presentable.

Still Fits

Here is a picture of Joseph wearing his scout shirt from his youth. We were surprised that it still fits because Joseph is much bigger than the skinny little boy of 13! It was a little tight across the shoulders but that was it.



I guess we can save it for Kimball. Kimball tried it on and he still needs to grow in to it.

Tangled

We watched Tangled for the first time this week...well, I had watched it a month ago, but I was the only one. We only watched it twice, but Kimball has been talking about the movie ever since. He'll sing bits and pieces from the songs and quote lines from it that he remembers. Tonight at dinner he looked at me and said: "Who are you and how did you find me?" I thought it was so funny.

At the Johnson family reunion my sister, Heather, gave us 2 CDs with Disney songs on them. Kimball wasn't too keen on most of the songs because he had only seen two of the movies--Toy Story and The Wizard of Oz. Now that he has seen Tangled he asks to listen to the songs from the "girl with the long hair", his favorite Tangled song being "I've got a Dream". I personally love the CDs Heather gave us because I have seen the movies and the songs bring back great memories. If only I could get my hands on all of the movies without having to buy them! Our library has a poor DVD selection.
